One of the best stores to visit in the Brookings area is the fantastic bookstore Books on Main. This has a many great finds at much more reasonable prices than you would be able to find at traditional bookstores such as Barnes and Noble. I am an avid reader and book lover, so this is a must-see place for me to visit when I am in town. But there is so much to love about this store. There is something for everyone in this store, from the avid reader of classic literature to the comic book reader to books for kids.

The last time that my husband and I were walking down Main Street after visiting the pawn shop next door, my husband suddenly stopped and looked in the window. There he saw a rare comic, or at least one he had never been able to find before. It was the comic about Superman’s death. He got all excited, explaining to me, since I don’t really know anything about comics at all, that Superman only dies once, so that made this a very rare find. We went into the store and the comic ended up as the perfect present for his father’s birthday the next week. We ended up passing a good hour or two in the store looking through all the titles that they had available. I could have spent my whole day there, and if we didn’t have somewhere to go you would find me sitting in the corner, curled up with a couple good books.

Good books and great finds are but one more reason to pay a visit to Brookings!
